Greetings!
Just in case you didn't know our history let me fill you in. Shades of Hip Hop first began in the mid 90's as the pioneer of video mix tape/documentaries. After about 10 VHS tapes before the year 2000, we fell back to pursue makerting and promotions in the graphic communications field. Two years ago in 2006. we began Shades of Hip Hop Worldwide Radio aka shadesradio.com on the internet. This summer after several high profile promotions in NYC/NJ we were invited to join the Temple of Hip Hop's apprenticeship program. Here we are able much better further our goals of preserving the Hip Hop culture by working at the epicenter of Hip Hop orthodoxy with the Teacha, KRS ONE. By reporting events while making exclusive audio and video available to the masses, we hope to resurrect the principles of True Hip Hop which begin with peace, love unity and having fun. |

Representing the elements of Breakin, Emceein, and Deejayin at MSG where sons of the Breeze Team, KRS ONE, and DJ Premiere.

In a backstage interview with Chip-Fu, he expressed these thoughts on the Stop The Violence Movement 20th Anniversary Tour. " It's like 360 degrees, everything comes back in cycles. Sometimes it takes the same voice or the same ideas to make a change. Right now we're going thru what happened years ago with the drugs and guns in the neighborhood, no one paying attention to the youth and for the Teacha to actually just say 'it's time for this to happen again', it's a beautiful thing. And for the emcees now that are current to take part in the situation is a beautiful thing." |

On Stage at Madison Square Garden |

At the Retro Jam in NYC a concert featured Bobby Brown, Keith Sweat, Rakim and KRS ONE. Inside, KRS ONE energized a hometown crowd out of their seats as he ripped thru a set of classics and new material including the song 'the Deejay' produced by DJ Revolution. Joined on stage by Chiefrocker Busy Bee, Hakim of Channel Live, Chip Fu of the Fu-schnickens, and new artist Beast, KRS ONE elicited cheers from an appreciative crowd who remained on their feet for the entire show. Tour manager Mondo One said, "A lot of the songs the Teacha does are by Primo so what's better than to have DJ Premier live on stage with KRS ONE.".

The End of the Weak open-mic showcase hit a high note this past Sunday. As part of the Stop The Violence Movement/Temple of Hip Hop's National Talent Search in association with shadesradio.com, EOW hosted a talent filled emcee showcased topped off with a mind-blowing performance by the Teacha. The highlight was a freestyle/written session that included Hakim Green of Channel Live, Big Zoo, Vice Verses, Propayne, Webafied, and Jess Jamez Figueroa.
How To Steal A Show |
|
Although on any given Sunday you can find the Pyramid Club jumping till 2am, things where a little different recently. After an about an hour on stage, KRS ONE then made his way toward the door, between pauses for flicks with adoring Hiphoppas. After reaching the street, it was apparent that the crowd had follwed the Hip Hop legend outside. Photographs, autographs and pound-shakes from well wishers didn't stop until the Teacha finally pulled off in the driver seat of a Lincoln Navigator. Although courageous emcees still touched the stage, the atmosphere inside afterwards was a mere shadow of what is was just 15 mins earlier.
